YES, WE WORK ON RV TANKS
UNFORTUNATELY, OUR SERVICE DOESN’T INCLUDE PUMP-OUTS
RV tank service is what Kleen Tank is known for. We’re the oldest RV tank cleaning service company in existence, we’re the largest RV service company in North America, and the recognized leader in tank cleaning service. At over 50 Authorized Dealers (and growing every month!), we’re where RV owners want us to be to provide them the highest level of professional service.
Unfortunately, we don’t empty or pump out RV waste tanks. That’s why our cleaning service requires our customers to be on full hookups — water, electrical service, and waste disposal, such as you would find at a full-service RV park, resort, campground, and some fairgrounds.
Why can’t we do service at an RV park dump station? Most dump stations don’t have pressured water with a threaded hookup to attach to our pump nor electrical service. But the real reason is that our service can take up to two hours or more to perform. That’s tying up what is sometimes the only dump station at an RV park or campground for a long time — when other RVers are looking to dump their tanks and move on. Sorry, we just can’t be that much of an inconvenience to others.
How about working with a local pump-out truck? Nope, we don’t like to do that either. Those pump-out trucks can generate some fantastic suction and can damage our equipment (and their’s). Plus, our service takes an hour and a half to two hours — much too long for a pump-out truck operator to wait around.
So who can help me? There are specialized pump-out companies that provide service to RVs. Look for these using a local Google search (use a search term such as “RV septic pump-out service near me” (or near a nearby city). You can also call a local RV park and ask who they recommend. Because we don’t work with tank pump-out companies, most of our dealers don’t have a reliable, recommended source for you.
Tips for taking care of your tanks
We understand that we may not be able to service your RV sometimes: we’re not in your location nor have a dealer nearby, our schedule doesn’t match up with yours, or you aren’t on a full hook-up site. Here are some tips any RV owner can implement to care for their holding tanks:
- Empty your tanks when they are 75% to 100% full. This will allow water to create a vortex as it exits the tank, improving the cleaning process.
- Always attach and turn on your tank’s flush system when emptying your tank. The extra water and turbulence can help to move things along and improve the draining process.
- Practice the “two bowl” method when using your RV’s toilet. Fill the toilet bowl 75% of the way full before using, flush the bowl and any waste down, and then fill it up again with another flush afterward. It’s a good idea to refill the bowl to 75% for the next time you use it.
- Prime each tank by adding three to five gallons of freshwater after you empty it. Adding fresh water will increase the water-to-waste ratio in the tank.
- If you can, travel with five to ten gallons of fresh, clean water in the tank when leaving an RV park. The clean water will help to keep things lubricated and loosen any waste or debris in the tank.
